Have you heard about about the ?Choking Game??
The Choking Game is a dangerous activity among youth (primarily aged 9 ? 16) in which a person essentially cuts off blood flow, and therefore oxygen, to the brain creating a light-headed sensation. What they often don?t realize is that this risky activity can cause lasting damage and even death. Though there is no indication this is widespread in Dublin there are periodic reports of this activity in our community and we want parents to have as much information about the terms, behavior and resources. We are providing a link to a website that is not affiliated with PERC but which provides additional information and video segment. CAUTION: the video segment has an emotional 911 call that is probably best viewed by mature individuals or discussed if you share with a younger audience. If you have a concern about some one engaging in this behavior we suggest you contact your pediatrician, school counselor or a community organization such as Nationwide Children?s Hospital 355-8080 at or Dublin Community Counseling Center at 889-5722.
